Flood Risk Intelligence

Claims Dispute Support

Independent, defensible hydraulic evidence for contested flood claims. Modelled extents at the date of loss, delivered as an expert report with GIS backing.

Delivered as an engagement Production

Who it's for

Insurance claims teams, counsel, and loss adjusters who need independent hydraulic evidence to assess or dispute a flood claim.

Coverage today

Methodology is established; coverage depends on the event location and the quality of hydrological and topographic data available for that site.

Who it’s for

Claims teams, counsel, and loss adjusters who need a third-party hydraulic view of what happened at a specific address on a specific date. We are not loyal to either side of a dispute — we model the physical event and present what the evidence supports.

What you get

  • Modelled flood extent at the site of loss, for the event in question.
  • Depth, velocity, and direction at the insured structure or asset.
  • A narrative timeline reconciling rainfall, river levels (where gauged), and eyewitness or CCTV evidence.
  • An evidence pack suitable for internal claims decisions, reinsurer review, or legal proceedings — including assumptions, data limitations, and sensitivity.
  • Optional on-stand testimony or expert conference participation, scoped separately.

How it works

  1. Intake. Policy, address, event date, and available evidence (photos, CCTV, witness statements, rainfall records). We flag data gaps before the modelling starts.
  2. Hydrology. The rainfall event is quantified from gauged stations and radar where available. Return period context is provided — was this a 1-in-20, a 1-in-100?
  3. Hydraulic modelling. An event-specific hydraulic run is built for the affected reach. Where a standing hazard model exists for the area (see Flood hazard mapping) we validate it against this event; otherwise we build an event-focused model.
  4. Evidence assembly. Extent, depths, and timing are cross-checked against eyewitness and CCTV evidence. Discrepancies are documented, not hidden.
  5. Delivery. Report, GIS layers, and a concise conclusion. We can give a briefing to counsel or the claims panel on request.

Limits

Coverage depends on what is knowable. In ungauged catchments with no rainfall radar and no photographic evidence, honest uncertainty bounds will be wider. We state this in every engagement rather than manufacturing precision.

What this is not

This is an expert-delivered engagement, not an automated claims-decisioning product. We support your adjusters and your counsel; we do not replace them.
